John Keating was protecting you before he ever met you. He spent 13 years in the US Army, serving as a senior counter-intelligence agent in foreign operations, and is a decorated veteran of Operations Desert Shield & Desert Storm. His commitment to service and love of country still come through, in the integrity John brings to raising his family and giving back to Frisco.
John has a communications degree from Towson University. After moving to Frisco in 1999 with his wife Leslie for professional opportunities, he began immediately to get involved in the community, serving on the board of directors for the Starwood Homeowners Association and Spears Elementary PTA, for which he was awarded the prestigious “Texas Lifetime PTA Membership Award” for outstanding contribution to the well-being of youth. He is also a graduate of Leadership Frisco, Class XIII.
John was elected to Frisco City Council in 2010, defeating the incumbent and another challenger. He was re-elected over a challenger in 2013 with 75% of the vote. In 2015, John’s colleagues on the City Council unanimously elected him Mayor Pro Tem, a title he held until his term expired in May 2016.
While on City Council, John served in many capacities across Frisco and the region, representing residents and the city as a conservative leader known for a passion to serve and to help others.
In 2016, John stood for the Texas House District 33 seat, and was narrowly defeated in the Republican run-off of the May primary. He values the friendships he made on that campaign trail, but the experience made it clear that the best use of his service and civic investment is here at home. When the Place 1 unexpired term opened up, many Frisco leaders contacted John and asked him to return to serve our city. He answered the call, and is committed full-time to Frisco.
John Keating’s credentials as a conservative, a leader and a public servant cannot be matched. He is the only candidate in the Frisco Place 1 race to receive endorsements from Frisco City Council members, Frisco ISD school board trustees, Texas legislators, Frisco’s first responders, and City of Frisco appointed officials.
John has the relationships, the experience, and the demonstrated leadership to be effective for Frisco on Day 1.
Relationships. Experience. Leadership.
John Keating is what Frisco needs right now.
